As the seasons start to change, our skin needs a little extra help! As the leaves turn vibrant shades of red and gold, our skincare routines also need to shift to adapt to the changing weather. Fall brings cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and a shift in environmental factors, all of which can affect our skin. Embracing a fall skincare regimen can help ensure your skin stays healthy, hydrated, and radiant as we transition from the warmth of summer to the crispness of autumn.

Hydration is Key!

With the drop in humidity during fall, your skin can become drier than it was in the summer. This means it’s time to adjust your skincare products to include more hydrating ingredients. Opt for a richer, more emollient moisturizer that will help lock in moisture and create a barrier against the cooler air. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides. These components attract moisture to the skin and help retain it, keeping your skin plump and supple. Derma E offers several products that can help!

A few of our favorites are;

Anti-Acne Oil Control Matte Moisturizer

Vitamin C Weightless Moisturizer with SPF

Ultra Lift Firming Moisturizer

Don't Forget to Adjust Your Cleanser

Your summer cleanser, which might have been geared towards controlling excess oil or dealing with sweat, may be too harsh for the fall. Switch to a gentler, hydrating cleanser that won't strip your skin of its natural oils. Creamy, non-foaming cleansers are often ideal for fall as they help maintain the skin’s moisture balance. We offer a few different options! Check out this Hydrating Gentle Cleaners- Great for all skin types! Or this Vitamin C Brightening Cleanser!

Exfoliation Matters!

Exfoliation is crucial year-round but becomes especially important in the fall as the skin can become dull and uneven due to the buildup of dead skin cells. However, be mindful not to over-exfoliate, as this can lead to irritation and dryness. Use a chemical exfoliant, like those containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), which gently slough off dead skin cells without causing excessive dryness. Exfoliate 1-2 times a week, depending on your skin type and the product's strength.

Sun Protection is Still Essential! Even on a Cloudy Day!

Even though the days are shorter and the sun's rays are less intense, UV protection should remain a daily staple in your skincare routine. UVA rays, which contribute to premature aging, are present year-round. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. If you prefer, you can switch to a sunscreen that also provides additional hydration or contains antioxidants for added skin benefits. Try this Vitamin C Weightless Moisturizer SPF 45 by Derma E!

Don’t Forget Lip Care!

With cooler temperatures, your lips can become chapped and dry. Include a nourishing lip balm in your daily routine, preferably one with ingredients like shea butter or beeswax, which will help protect and hydrate your lips. Reapply regularly, especially if you’re spending time outdoors. We recommend Derma E Ultra Hydrating Lip Plumping Treatment!
